Body/Appearance:
Equinox is huge. He's very tall and muscular. His appearance alone is intimidating, not even considering the history of his parents. However, no pony could deny he is a handsome stallion, with his physique, flowing mane, and intensely turquoise eyes. Unlike normal unicorns, his horn is extremely sharp and curved, and slowly fades to black near the tip. When he loses control (which has only happened at one known time), his mane flows more rapidly and its colors intensify, his irises change to a magenta, his horn is a gradient of pinkish-purple, and a faint purple smoke emanates from his eyes.

Personality:
Equinox is aware of the effect he has on ponies. He sees their uncomfortable shifting and averted eyes whenever he is near. Of course, it bothers him, but he tries not to let it affect his mood or how he performs his duties, which he takes very seriously. Equinox is responsible, so he is often put in charge of more minor projects, which he enjoys greatly. Those working under him say he is a great leader, even if they find him frightening. He has a big heart, but he is very reserved and strict when he is put in power or has important meetings, as he wants to prove to Equestria that he is worthy of trust. He can't afford to mess up again, and there is a constant fear in the back of his mind that he will lose control of his dark magic (see abilities section.)

Relationships:
Equinox loves his parents very much, but lately his relationship with them has become almost professional. It pains Luna to see how hard her son tries to be the perfect prince, and she tells him he can let his guard down some, but Equinox feels there is too much at risk. Sombra feels the strain on his son is his fault, and he can hardly talk to Equinox anymore without feeling overwhelmingly guilty. Equinox knows his parents still struggle with their past, and he doesn't want to be a burden to them, so he doesn't share his feelings anymore.

Equinox has a huge crush on Ciel Lumineux, who is the daughter of Fleur de Verre, and they both work as diplomats for the Crystal Empire. She often catches his eye and makes him forget what he's going to say at important meetings, and she makes possibly flirtatious comments to him when they pass each other in the castle, but he can't bring himself to ever meet her eyes or say anything back. He's mostly just startled that a mare would even take interest in him, and not be totally terrified of him. (Plus, she could just feel bad for him and is trying to be friendly. Right?)

The only one Equinox confides in is his cousin, Consonance, who understands what it's like to feel like a monster. He also talks all about his crush to Consonance, who can in no way relate, but often offers sound advice anyway to her poor, giant, lovestruck cousin. She usually just stays silent and listens, and he comes up with a solution himself. Discord often talks to the two of them and usually makes them feel better when they're particularly brooding.

Since Orizzonte is the captain of a portion of the royal guard, she often interacts with Equinox. She's hardly scared of anything, and finds him super awesome and badass. Equinox finds her pleas to teach her more fighting techniques and spirited, confident nature endearing, so he obliges, and he enjoys hanging out with another pony who shares some of his interests and isn't frightened of him.

Talents/Abilities/Cutie Mark:
Equinox has many talents: leading, fighting, magic, public speaking… but his main talent came to him the day he realized he could use his father's dark magic. When he was a colt, he would hear the other colts and fillies talking about him behind his back, and some would even tease and bully him when they realized he didn't fight back. He had a particularly bad day, and ran home to the castle to his parents, to find them in a meeting discussing none other than Equinox with the other leaders of nations in Equestria. They didn't notice him for a while, and he heard them saying how he could be a danger and he shouldn't be given any responsibilities for everypony's safety. Even though his parents argued against this, he felt his frustration boil over at the injustice of it all. He screamed, and didn't realize he had unleashed dark magic, which slightly injured some in the room.
In horror, he fled to the chapel, sobbing and trying to get the magic and anger to go away, when he saw the stained glass windows. He saw his parents' evil forms being defeated, depicted in beautiful glass, and realized that they became better ponies, and he wouldn't let others bother him. That is when he received his cutie mark, and later began to make stained glass panels, at which he is very talented. It brings him great peace and happiness. The cutie mark represents his heritage, name, ability to stay focused and optimistic, and talent in creating stained glass art.
